Congratulations Tigers: In only it’s second season, the Stonepark Park Tigers Midget A Boys team wrapped up their impressive season by participating in the Gold Medal game vs Gulf Shore at Gulf Shore Consolidated on Monday night. The Tigers A boys team advanced to the Gold medal game by outscoring teams from Montague and Summerside Intermediate in the Zone and Provincial Semi finals. The boys capitalized on early opportunities and lead 12-9 after the first quarter. The second quarter was strong but Gulf Shore managed to outscore Stonepark 11-4 to take a 20-16 lead at the half. The 3rd quarter Stonepark surged with a strong offensive rally outscoring their opponent 20-12 to take a 36-32 lead thanks to strong play by Liam McBurney and Darby White and great defense by Ben MacIntosh, Brandon Hughes, Ben Langille and Kass Palter. Early in final quarter Gulf Shore took advantage of some earlier foul trouble by Stonepark and dominated the scoring to take a lead. Both teams exchanged scoring until the 2 minute mark when Gulf Shore took a 6 point lead and despite a heroic half court 3 point score by Darby White in the final minute Gulf Shore held on for a 53-50 win. The boys played a great final game and should be very proud of their 2nd place Silver Medal accomplishment. Leading scorers for Stonepark were Liam McBurney 20, Darby White 16, Brandon Stewart 8.
