The national media literacy awareness week will be held from November 5-9, 2012. We hope students, teachers and parents alike will take some time to explore, consider and converse with each other regarding this important issue.
The purpose of the event is to promote media literacy awareness within schools, at all levels, in the Prince Edward Island K-12 public school system. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development subscribes to Media Smarts resources which provides media education relating to: digital and media fundamentals, Internet, television, movies, video games, music, body image, gender representation, intellectual property, marketing, violence, cyber security, cyber bullying, online hate, privacy and many other topics.
The theme of this years’ Media Smarts literacy awareness week is Privacy Matters.
